July.

Wednesday 23.  General Meeting  at the Veterans Car Club Hall, 134 Queens Road, Fivedock at 8:00pm.

Have you ever wondered about the ‘early days’ of the Rover Owners Club?   What cars were the most common then?  What challenges did the members face?  What outings did they enjoy?

Come along to the July meeting and hear Jim Moule describe events taking place in the Rover Owners Club back, one might even say, last century.

Sunday 27.   Alvis Soup Run.

Once again we have been invited to attend the annual Alvis Soup Run to Mt Irvine (a few kms past Mt Wilson).  This is a very nice drive into the Blue Mountains and an opportunity to see many other fine cars. Mark this in your diary for now. Meet at rest area at Clarendon (opposite RAAF base) where we have meet, before at 08:30 for 08:45 departure.

Soup served at  10:30am (a little later then previously).         Place: Mt Irvine Community Hall

Charge: $5.00 pp for soup, toast, tea or coffee.

The Alvis Club has advised the various clubs there is a BBQ available, which the ROC has made use of in previous years, so there may be more clubs staying on to socialise this time, which would be good.

Cut Off Date.   25 June at end of Monthly Meeting.

Sunday 17   All British Day at Kings School Parramatta.

Same venue as the last few years, but hopefully, not washed out this year.

Entry tickets/passes will cost $5.00 (all proceeds going to charity) and will be available at the June Meeting.  The entry pass/ticket will show which area you will be directed to by the marshals.  Make sure you have your ticket as it is likely that you be directed to a general area if you just turn up on the day.

We expect the Rolls Royce Club and Jaguar Clubs will each hold a special display and so there should be just a fabulous display of mouth watering machinery.   In addition there is the art display and other attractions.  Don't miss it.  Get your entry pass/ticket immediately.  Andrew Holland has tickets

Sunday 24      Shannon’s Eastern Creek Display.

2008 is the 60th anniversary of the P3 and we have been offered a special spot to recognize this.  We can expect 5 places on pit lane for our P3.  Non P3 Rovers will have their own area as usual.  This should be a special day as not only is it the anniversary of the P3 and Land Rover but the following clubs have special anniversaries this year.

100 years – General Motors & Model T Ford 80 years – Model A Ford

70 years - Volkswagen                            60 years – 48-215 Holden, Morris Minor, Land Rover, Rover P3, Porsche

50 years – Morgan Owners Club, Austin Healey Sprite, FC Holden, Goggomobile

40 years – Triumph TR6

Make a note in your diary now and more details will be available closer to the date.

Wednesday 27.  General Meeting at the Veterans Car Club Hall, 134 Queens Road, Fivedock at 8:00pm.

Guest speaker will be David Stuart.  David has been the N.S.W. Penrite distributor for their Veteran, Vintage and Classic range of lubricants the past 5 1/2 years as well as having the business Antique Tyre Supplies also for N.S.W.   He has been involved in vintage cars for the past 47 years and presently owns a 1923 23-60 Vauxhall tourer. He is a Life Member of the Vintage Sports Car Club of Australia having been a member of that club for the past 22 years.

For their Veteran, Vintage and Classic range of oils, Penrite has appointed one distributor in each state and that person has been selected because of their involvement in the Veteran and Vintage movement and obviously has the knowledge required to answer questions when customers ring enquiring about lubricants for their cars.

David carries the full range of Penrite Products in the Veteran and Vintage stocklist and customers either come direct to his factory at Ingleburn to make their purchases, or he sends them out through the mail.
