July

Sunday 11 July  from 10;00am.  Garage Crawl - Googong/Burra region east of Canberra

Where: various locations, starting at 327 Fernleigh Drive, Googong (near Queanbeyan) NSW

In conjunction with the Queanbeyan based Southern Tablelands Heritage Automotive Restorers Club (STHARC) we have been invited to participate in a ‘garage crawl’ that will take us to three rural properties in the Googong/Burra region east of Canberra.

First stop will be Chris Forsey’s property (address above) to view a collection which includes Rover, Vanguard, Alvis, Jensen and other marques.

We will then drive for about 20 minutes into the Burra Valley to visit Ron Scattergood’s collection of motoring memorabilia.  Ron is a local farmer who grew up in the Canberra/Yass region and has been working a property at Burra for many years.  He also ‘farms’ old trucks and cars – well worth a look.

The final visit will be to another property in the Burra Valley where I understand there will be a range of collectibles on show – not necessarily motoring related but guaranteed to be interesting!

The fine print:

The event is self catering.  BYO lunch will be convened at the Burra Park community hall where there are toilets and a BBQ trailer available.

Sunday 25 Alvis Soup Run.  For several years we have enjoyed the company of the Alvis club and the Daimler and Lanchester Club on the famous soup run.  This year the Rover Owners’ Club is hosting  the event and we have chosen  the well known and much liked  trip to Spencer.  If you have been to the café at Spencer before, you   know they serve up a great range of specially tailored meals including the gastronomical delight  “The Rover Burger”.   If you  have  not been before, you  have missed something.

After lunch return home either  by  the Pacific Highway or Wiseman's Ferry.
